Well, guys, just wanted to send a quick post that we made it ok. We got all of our luggage and made it through customs like nobody’s business. It was the hardest trip I have ever made in my life, but I really don’t think it could’ve gone better. Josiah did amazing! Praise Jesus, He really did answer your prayers. Thank you all for praying!
I am adjusting to some serious culture shock! I am used to coming over seas with a TEAM of English speakers and now I only have my Daniel. He does the best he can, but he hasn’t seen this family in like 10 years, so he is a little hard pressed to give me all the attention I feel I need. 🙂 I am getting much better though. Keep praying for me and my patience and my Portuguese. After I called a horse a head of hair the other day, I have been a little shy of trying Portuguese again. I know, I’m a baby. They looked at me like I was crazy, you know the look we give them when they try to say stuff we don’t understand. The look I got was are you trying to say horse, or are you saying I have bad hair? I’m sure it is only one of my many blunders. I keep trying to say things in Spanish. Daniel says, “no, that’s Spanish” and then I get all embarrassed again. Daniel is very encouraging. He likes me to at least try. So, try I must. Seriously, you guys, pray for me.
In other news, it has rained almost every day here so far. So much for my sweet tan and natural highlights…
Love you guys so much. The Internet is the best thing ever!! I can be so far from you all and still peek into your lives. Everybody, keep posting new blogs!! I will put up some pics when we get back!!
From Brasil, Ciao!!
So far the thing we have been the most successful at teaching Josiah is how to kiss. I know, shocker, since Daniel and I do a lot of kissing ourselves. Plus, I think kids like to be cuddly anyway. After I had already started this post I read two others about how much their kids like to kiss and hug. Pretty funny I thought. So I know he isn’t the only kid kisser out there, but it is new to me and I LOVE IT. All that to say, he will kiss ANYBODY and EVERYTHING. He even kisses his toys. It’s adorable. He’s good, too, at blowing kisses- everybody together- “AWWWW”. I thought you guys might like to see some of the kisses we’ve caught on camera.
and, of course, josiah will occasionally get kisses too. hehe.
Baby update: I went to the MD last week and everything is going great. He said that I was a couple of weeks early, but that everything looked normal on the US. I was relieved. He also said that he wanted another US to make sure the growth was progressing normally, since I was earlier than my calculated due date. So as soon as we get back from Brazil I have another one. He also said, that since I was so early with the first US that we will double check the gender of the baby. So, I guess it could not be a girl after all, but I still think it is. Here is a picture of the baby’s hand- waving to say, “hi” to everyone. I’m still calling her Claire, until I find out otherwise.
- claire says, hi
This will be my last blog until we get back from Brazil. For any who want to join us in praying that the flight and all travel will be smooth and safe please start praying NOW!! 🙂 We got some stuff to help Josiah sleep on the plane; hopefully it will work. Also, Daniel and I are expecting some really cool stuff to happen spiritually for us. The Christians in Brazil are on fire, and we are hoping to get to experience some of that fire which is so dreadfully lacking here in America. Please pray that our hearts will be open to what God has for us and that He would find us faithful and obedient. We are so thankful for all of you and we love you!
Sorry, everybody. I was hoping to have done this last week, but we have been traveling, and I’m just now getting the time to blog.
I took Josiah to the barber to get his first “real” hair cut. I say “real” because it’s the first one we have paid for. My grandpa actually gave him his FIRST haircut, but I don’t have digital pic of that one. Plus that one went really well compared to how this one went. Let me just tell you, it was traumatic! Poor guy did great till the barber turned on the shears. Josiah went BALLISTIC! And of course, the great mother I am, I just snapped pics as fast as I could. I felt sorry for him, but we had to finish, AND it was kinda funny. One day he will laugh at himself too. Don’t worry, when it was all over we took him to CiCis for a pizza reward! Plus, it took about two seconds in my arms for him to forget the whole thing ever happened and want down to play with his cars. It did take awhile before the sniffle-deep-breathe, you know how you do when you cry really hard, went away.
So here are some pics of the atrocious event…

So as you can see, he survived! I’m not sure about the barber, poor guy. Daniel was getting his hair cut in the chair next to Josiah, but it didn’t matter, Josiah still wanted out of there. After we ate, we went home and Josiah and Daniel took a shower together to get the hair off of them. Josiah LOVES to take a shower with his daddy. I took pics of that too, but I don’t think Daniel would appreciate me putting those on line. hehe. Sometime, I will post some pics of the birthday party!
